Your first class
New students
New students are always welcome. No uniform or equipment is required. No prior experience needed. New students should just walk in and observe class or take a free trial lesson at any time without making online appointments first.
Practice begins with a bow to the shajo (shooting hall). You'll learn how to enter, where to stand, and how to handle the bow before you draw it.
The shahō hassetsu, the eight stages of shooting, are practiced without an arrow at first. Wear loose clothing you can move in.
Early shooting is at the makiwara, a straw target at arm's length. The 28-metre mato comes once the form is settled.
